NomNotes (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the NomNotes app, website, and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account Information: email address, username, name, and password.
  • Optional Profile Information: profile details you choose to add and optionally share with other members, such as cooking interests, chef experience, biography, or similar profile content.
  • User Content: recipes, notes, images, videos, transcripts, and other content you upload, save, create, or share through NomNotes.
  • Automatically Collected Information: device information, browser or app type, IP address, and general usage information related to how you interact with the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Provide recipe storage, organization, and sharing features.
  • Process uploaded images, videos, text, and other content.
  • Use AI-powered tools to perform OCR, transcription, parsing, formatting, summarization, and recipe generation or cleanup.
  • Support subscriptions, billing, and account-related communications.
  • Improve the app, website, and overall user experience.
  • Protect the security, integrity, and proper operation of the service.

3. AI and Third-Party Processing

NomNotes uses third-party service providers, including AI and cloud-based processing providers, to help process content submitted by users. These providers may include services such as OpenAI, Google Cloud, and other providers we may add in the future for OCR, text extraction, transcription, recipe parsing, and related processing.

When you upload content for these features, that content may be sent to third-party providers for processing. We may store the processed results, including transcripts, parsed recipes, and refined outputs, in our database so they can be used in your account and app features.

4. Content Sharing and Visibility

NomNotes allows users to choose whether certain recipes or profile information are shared with other members. Content you mark for sharing may be visible to other users within the service. You are responsible for the information you choose to share.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers that help us operate the app, website, hosting environment, subscriptions, and AI-related features.
  • When required by law, legal process, or governmental request.
  • To protect the rights, safety, and security of NomNotes, our users, or others.
  • As part of a future business transfer, sale, merger, or restructuring involving the service.

6. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. Passwords are stored using secure hashing methods and not in plain text. Even so, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

At this time, NomNotes may use shared hosting and database storage as part of its infrastructure. As the service grows, hosting and storage providers may change.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information and user content for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your content or account, we will remove or anonymize associated information within a reasonable time, except where retention is required for legal, security, or operational reasons.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You may have the ability to:

  • Access and update certain account information.
  • Delete your recipes, profile content, and other saved information.
  • Delete your account and request deletion of associated personal data.
  • Choose whether recipes or profile information are shared with other members.

For iOS users, if account creation is available in the app, account deletion should also be made available in the app to comply with platform requirements.

9. Subscriptions and Payments

NomNotes may offer paid subscriptions or premium features. Purchases made through Apple’s App Store are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms, policies, and billing practices. We may also offer subscriptions through our website or other platforms in the future.

10. Children’s Privacy

NomNotes is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

11. International and Future Operations

NomNotes currently operates primarily in the United States, but the service may expand in the future to additional regions, platforms, and service providers. If that occurs, we may update this Privacy Policy to reflect those changes.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will post the updated version here and revise the effective date above. Your continued use of NomNotes after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
